Atomic Heist

Pro's: -The shooting mechanics are solid. -There are a variety of power-ups that you can obtain during your playthrough. I don't know how many there are at the moment, but I have found enough to keep my interest. -Unlockable ships and upgrades. You can pick and choose which ones to equip before starting a run. Con's: -My biggest gripe with the game is the Radiation mechanic, it makes it so that your health lowers at a constant rate AND will also drop your maximum health as well. To remedy this, you have to pick up anti-radiation power ups, this will get rid of the lowered health cap and you can start regenerating health again. Thing is the debuff will start again almost seconds later. I don't mind managing health, but the radiation alone can kill you which is not a fun mechanic. This means you are in constant search of these radiation power-ups and not focusing on the fun part of the gameplay.

Didn't know about Atomic Heist until today. The low price & positve YT reviews convinced me to buy it despite expecting something this is not, lucky for me because expectations were fairly low. Found out this is not a overly simple & low effort made game. Even with YT videos watched, expectations were off. I expected a somewhat typical space shooter but in corridors like Arkagis Revolution, to even to play a good bit like it. This is not like that & it's more complex too though I like AR too. Levels are corridors but aren't as long from start to end, at least not early in. Plays more like Hotline Miami but with armored spacecrafts than a shmup type game and you carefully clear out levels of all enemies. It's twinstick with small learning curve. It's more than just simple fly around & shoot, collect drops and move to the exit though that's what you TRY to do. The draining health is interesting, makes sense why & isn't a negative IMO. DO TUTORIAL! Options has difficulty setting.
