DYNASTY WARS was released in the 1980s/90s and precedes DYNASTY WARRIORS 1 on the PlayStation 1. Heavily copied Destiny Of An Emperor 1 & 2, this game features Musou characters like Liu Bei, Guan Yu & Zhang Fei, and a bunch of others too. It's inspired from the novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" with Liu Bei unifying China (Fictional).
This wasn't featured due to TECMO-KOEI, but as DYNASTY WARRIORS 9 EMPIRES failed to release on time on Xbox, CAPCOM took advantage of the moment and sneak DYNASTY WARS in for everybody to enjoy. It's a rare gem that got overshadowed by DYNASTY WARRIORS.
It's interesting how CAPCOM started a franchise, then KOEI stole it...Strange.
