CONTRA: ROGUE CORPS

Contra has always been a fast paced bullet hell game on foot....basically. people who don't know contra complain about the story, even though it's actually on par with EVERY other Contra game. Where it fails is that they mistook campy and over the top for hoaky and obnoxious. The writing is childish, ok, but the cinematics and voice acting, not to mention the laughably bad looking male hero, are all just unlikable. Franchises have certain unspoken rules that define them and make them unique to their success. You can't feel like a ****** soldier when the egocentric heroes are constantly bragging and saying cliche fluff in an embarrassingly cartoon voice. Apperences aside. the pacing of this game and the overall execution from the levels to the way you get around, It truly feels like some Sonic the Hegehog devs got together after being fired and they drank alot of rum and red bull...then they asked their 5 year old sons for some game ideas for their Contra contract.

Bought this on a whim cuz I like the old CONTRA games....this is not CONTRA...

I have been playing Contra for 32 years and this game depresses me. Its a buggy mess that I'm even sure was meant to be a Contra game. Please do not play if your wanting nostalgia or tested game. Apologies to the devs but this one hurts to bad to stay quiet.

Unbelievable they want $40. Shameful

Dont bother. Doesnt feel like contra at all. Only 2 weapons in combat (no power up/changing?). Guns overheat (what kind of run n gun does that?). Too complicated upgrade system. also, its supposed to be f***** contra. If it takes more than 2 mins in menus, you did it wrong. Its about jumping in barebones, gettin weapons midlevel, and hoping you dont die and lose everything. Next time amp the difficulty, max out pumping tunes, and make sure unlimited bullets is still not enough. This is just a generic rpg shooter with contra slapped on. Id give it a 3 if it was a $15 game at launch and just called it 'rogue corps' (no tie to contra name)....but here we are. Decent for a buddy shooter i guess, but do yourself a favor and just get 'BLAZING CHROME' if ya need a new/retro contra fix. It wont leave you feeling hollow, or better yet, pick up the arc sys contra game 'hard corp: Uprising'. You wont have regret getting those instead of this game
