Dice A Million

Of all the roguelike type games in this style i've played, this one just feels underwhelming. Too many dice seem virtually useless, while a select few seem to be overpowered. This title needs work if it wants to attract a larger crowd

Beat and promoted with all 12 hands. Vortex 13 (end). I find DaM to be addictive, but unfulfilling. A checklist you want to get through simply because it's there. Like all rogues, RNG and time-sink will hit like a truck in runs, and you'll often hit "retry" in new runs looking for the right item. The RNG department is worse than most as there's a deluge of items, but no real banish option. DaM is easy to understand, though I recommend you check guides as you play. Meta builds are strong, but rng makes them hard to gather, and certain bosses are hard counters, reducing multipliers to 0 or negative. After the first few runs, each new unlock requires a successful run (1hr+) with specific builds to unlock 1-2 things. Just FYI: 1044gs, 178 achievements, 72 worth 0gs, couple worth 14/18, rest are 5/15. To get all achievements you need to beat the game a bare minimum of 99 times. 10 challenges, Vortex 1-10+, 4 story missions, and all 12 hands at difficulties 0-6 each.

Because the developer has injected randomness into every possible facet of the game, this game could remove all decision making from the player and it'd be almost exactly the same game. Why is the eternal enchantment most commonly applied to dice that have neither discard nor exhaustion mechanics? Why does it seem like almost every boss obliterates a core game mechanic in a way that ruins the run with no real way to mitigate it (all dice with more than 6 faces discarded but 75% of the dice in the game have more than 6 faces, all extra value is now negative but being successful is wholly dependent on you accumulating extra value and multipliers, etc.)? I want to like this game so much, but it's buns and I already know that no amount of arguing will change it because "iT's rAndOM giT gUd brO."

It's pretty good. I recommend trying it out if you got Gamepass then buying it if you want to support the developers.
