Dimension Drive

Only an hour in & loving it. Almost didn't buy, looked to be confusing & very hard w/swapping between 2 screens but it's really not & already feeling natural to do (very fun doing it too). Thought it & some other unique stuff would just be novelty but nope, makes it feel special, unlike anything else. Ship has great, tight control. Well placed check point lines, most hits are not one hit death for you. Game looks stunning, sounds equally as good & hard to put down, great arcade like fun. Can see this getting tough later but keeping addicting fun. Only cons so far: minor bug, story (generic/boring to me) which is a big part of the game (may get engaging) & wish had more voice acting instead of reading conversations. Bug is if paused, then press home button, upon returning to game the pause menu stays but game unpauses under it. Easily worth full price & I can tell that if you have a friend to join, it will be even more of a blast though single player is already a blast.

There are 4 difficulty levels. I chose the easiest. Turns out that doesn't matter at all. What's extra shields and lives when you die 50 straight times smashing into space debris every time you jump. And you have to jump back and forth constantly. After they introduced the reverse mechanic in level two, I could barely get anywhere. Each side is AVERAGE 50% full. Then half your safety, is death on other side. So ½ time you hit that jump button you die. And likely more, as the debris seems maliciously placed right to where you're likely to jump. Imagine if Atari Asteroids had 2 screens, then required you to do the same... It sounds fun, but it's not. Add having to reverse to shoot a lock on one side that opens gate on other, then jump back, switch foreward, shoot baddies... All while the screen is yelling "LOW ENERGY" at you bc you're out of ammo! Meanwhile dodging bullet hell, missing the near impossible to get cube item, & dodging debris. WAY too much for the Avg brain to handle
