Echo Generation: Midnight Edition

I didnt expect much of anything, so when I got hooked on the stellar art style, bubbly music, & adorable characters, I was pleasantly surprised! Can't remember the last time i actually ENJOYED turn-based combat. The World they created is visually stunning so I feel compelled to explore the environments & uncover hidden secrets. The game makes me feel a whole lotta ":)"

Fun game for those who enjoy exploring and turn based combat. One critique of the game is lack of scaling on enemies, where fights are easy, then feels impossible mid-level, then back to easy for rest of game once you are leveled enough. Hard part for me was around level 5-7, but grind and you will get through it. Even some quality of life issues like no fast travel get better later when more healing spots open up.

I had to repeat fights over and over to level up and beat some of the bosses. I also wish there was some way to keep track of the side quests and who wants what. For the special attacks, first few times using them, the text that tells you what to do goes super fast. Maybe if it could show the text earlier on that would be good.

This was such a fun experience, from top to bottom. I hope there is some DLC in the pipeline. The music for the tracker fight was a banger, and my little ones loved it as well :). This game gives the vibe, that the team making it had fun with it. Can't wait to see what they do next! If I had to give one bit of criticism it would be, that at times what you should do next is unclear. To be more specific, I'm referencing the part where you need the alien cutout, to talk to the alien captain. :)

Great game from start to finish. Soundtrack has a Stranger Things vibe. Gameplay isn't too difficult to learn either. Has a pretty decent story with humor throughout. A must play for fans of Paper Mario. Hopefully they make a sequel! 🤞
