Exile's End

This game was a ton of fun. At first I feared fall damage for the entire game but you get the upgrade for that soon enough. I really enjoyed the metroid feel to the game. From the retro cutscenes to the main character to the cool eerie music & the great sound effects, this game really nailed it in style & presentation! The only thing I would have liked to have been done a little better was to have the blaster type weapons be a bit more efficient on energy. Otherwise, this was a great game! Hope they make more like it! I recommend this game to anyone who likes the old side scrollers. I had a blast playing through it!

The game is beatiful and really does a great job paying homage to great 90's Adventure games. It has an artistically stylish intro scene with a catchy score that does a really wonderful job conveying the urgency and chaos and because of all that the scoreless ambience of the planet stands out inside the rest of the games erie atmosphere. These sounds and lack of music throughout most areas give you a real feeling of isolation. The game is very difficult or 'Nintendo Hard' with fall damage plus limited health and ammo so death is early and often but you can continue from the screen you died on an infinite amount of times which is fair IMO. Exiles End appears to be another Metrovanian on the surface but once you get into the core of it you'll see that there's more of a focus on exploring and puzzle solving than your basic run-of-the-mill Metrovania clone. 👻👻👻👻 /👻👻👻👻👻 4 Ghosts out of 5!!! It's a MASTAPEESE!!! So developers...here's yer cake!!!🎂🍰 You earned it!!!

The music I didn't care for too much but the sound effects were perfect. The game itself is very enjoyable, the puzzles were just the right amount of difficult I thought, the weapons were very fun to use and the boss battles were very enjoyable.. the art added a nice good feeling creepy dangerous atmosphere.. also to my surprise, a harder difficulty unlocks after you complete the game.. definitely going to give it another run on hard mode.

Really enjoyed this game, great retro vibe. The lack of a soundtrack is fine, makes the enviorments feel more menacing.

There's been an update to fix the music, all good now. Check it out if you like retro stuff or if you're old like me!
