Gex Trilogy

TL; DR: Need it. Need it. Need it! Finally, Gex without Dev Mode! I've waited so long! Played this on 3DO back in the 1990s, and laughted my adolecent butt off! Here we are nearly thirty years later: I still use the same quotes daily, and the game releases on Xbox! I am a kid again. Original Gex is amazing. Gameplay wise it's the same as before, screen ratios can change, manual saves, and there's great Gextra features! Welcome to a Gextacular game! It's weirder than 4th of July at Rick James' place!

Gex is the best

Put Gex in Smash

I mean it's not a remaster, so don't go into it expecting modern graphics. It's pretty much exactly the same as it was back in the day, and that's not at all a bad thing. There are a few neat things like special features, a CRT filter and cool screen borders to switch through. By and large though it's 30 bucks to conveniently play the old trilogy through your Xbox, it's up to you if you're down for that or not. As someone whose Gex 3 disc was badly scratched, lost and has no working N64 or original PlayStation to play this on, I am DEFINITELY not regretting this purchase. And I can't even rate it lower than a 5/5, because even if a newer, younger player doesn't dig the outdated graphics or sometimes wonky 90's gameplay then that doesn't mean there's actually anything wrong with this game. For what it is (a port) it checks every box. If you had complaints about Gex back then, then you'll still have those complaints now. If you loved Gex back then, then you'll love it now. I dig it. 🪰

That person clearly hasn't booted up the game yet so let me help people out. First you can select from a 16:9, 4:3 and native screen ratio with themed bumpers to decorate your screen. Next there is a rewind feature that makes the harder Gex more forgiving. (the old invincibly cheat code still works 😉) Finally great bonus features such as interviews with the creator, old 90s ads and looks at canned projects like Gex Jr. Overall great value for $30! Enjoy because its tail time!
