INVERSUS Deluxe

Inversus has a very simple aesthetic but once the game starts rolling, things go insane! It's a unique and clever twist on games like Geometry Wars that is so much freaking fun. Arcade mode is great and versus is intense. Plus, playing cooperatively with your friends and is a great way to mend friendships once you've kicked each other around competitively. Buy this game! We need to build up this online community. :)

Someone took the Xbox 360 Indie game Opposites and applied it to shooters. The results are an easy to grasp, deeply strategic, and fast action top-down shooter. The gimmick is your walls are their floors and vice versa. Shoot to both finish your opponent (one tag ends a round) or to create more space for you/walls for them. Rounds can be done in 2 seconds with a straight kill or can last 2-3 minutes. These long affairs make you think on your feet. So nice I bought it at full price twice. First for Switch and second for Xbox One. The different social pools make it worth buying both. Thankfully there are bots you can play against while waiting for humans. Unlike the switch version, you can summon a strange opponent with LFG, which needs to be even more improved. There are 1 on 1 matches, 2 on 2 mathces, and 1 or 2 vs "red zombie hordes" survival mode which is the weakest of the 3 modes. Gameplay fits within 1.5 M in/400 k out, even when updating another game. 56OK.

I got this while it was on sale, and I don't regret it one bit. The game is great and has some creative (and trippy) mechanics along with some highly addictive gameplay. It's definitely worth it if you need a little game refresher.
