Jack Move
HypeTrain Digital · Action & adventure · Role playing
Jack Move is a JRPG that features a unique blend of gritty cyberpunk story telling, turn based battles and beautiful modern pixel art. Take on the role of Noa, a vigilante hacker who is thrust into a world of murder, kidnapping and dark research after her father goes missing.
I was sucked in by the amazing animated trailer, but the game is entirely what you see at the end of it: not even cutscenes in that style.
After completing it at max level (32), I can say the game itself is just OK. 3.5 stars. Lively character design and animation, but it seemed at odds with the setting at times. I also expect certain things from the cyberpunk genre, like tall buildings, but every building was only 1-2 stories tall. I guess what I'm saying is the world and tone didn't feel coherent to me.
The side quests and NPCs were inane (the NPCs never had anything useful to say), but the main plot and battles were engaging enough for the 8-9 hour play time.
There are a few bugs; save often in multiple slots. I once got stuck on a pixel in the Slums and it autosaved in that position. A few times the inventory menu stopped responding. Oh, and the game crashes if you beat Dr. Qadir in one hit...

Stuck in scrapyard
It was fun and I was genuinely enjoying the game until my character got stuck inside a bush, in the scrapyard. My save was far back and auto save stuck me inside the bush. So basically this means I have to start over and that killed the fun for me right there. Shouldn't have to restart at all. Obviously there are some bugs hidden underneath that went unnoticed.

Forgot i beat this
I get that not every game needs to be some 60-100 hr epic, the game written is too short for its own good. I love the unique spin of the rpg elements as well as the art style. But progression, build up, and conclusion of the story did not make it a memorable experience in neither the journey nor the destination. I honestly can't recommend the game as GBA sized rpg fix. The unique cyberpunk flavor is not enough to justify the short comming.

Don't fall for the charming trailer...
Just about a par rpg. Wouldn't recommend spending more than 5- 10$ on. Extremely short ~8 hours. Completed 1/2 the sidequests. Achievements are all story based. Artwork and sound are good, but not enough to make it worth your while.
