Almost
Odd that no one mentions that the Remaster does not include the localized english dialogue of the original western release, which was a powerful part of the nostalgia for me. No real quality of life improvements or extra features, mostly just improved textures. Because of that, I consider this generally weaker than the PS2 release, just more convenient to have on modern consoles. Newer gamers are likely to dislike the old feeling controls.

Runs like a chevy
It runs, but not as good as you remember it. Impressive to make a fun game so unfun

Strange game, strange controls, strange fun
I originally played this way back on a ps2 demo, I'd compete with friends by taking turns to see who can make the biggest katamari.
Controls may be a bit awkward, even more so if you missed out on the ps1-ps2 era, as movement & camera clunkyness was common back then, & you'd kinda have to 'get a feel' for certain games. Once you get the hang of it, it's just a goofy fun time for all ages.
There's one stage where you can get it so big, you're grabbing sky scrapers, bridges, & clouds, stupid but satisfying. All you really use is just the thumbsticks pretty much tho. Definitely not a AAA game for sure, but still fun for what it is.
Think snowball effect, but instead you're a lil alien with a ball rolling up little items until you're big enough to roll up pets, people, buildings, etc.
