Legend of Ixtona

I highly recommend turning on the button guide under options on the main screen. This game is difficult to figure out otherwise.

Enjoyed this game pretty thoroughly... The story is a bit weak, but if you can shake your head and move on from the beginning, it does get a bit better. Just keep in mind that is more on the basic/simple side of things in terms of story, and focus on the gameplay instead. The gameplay is pretty standard grid movement, turn based RPG fare. Standard, but fairly good. The enemy will gang up on you and eliminate your team one by one, if given the chance, so you will have to be careful. Use solid strategy and tactics, or suffer. The big perk to this game, in my opinion, is the ability to customize one of/THE main character, PLUS additional party members (mercenaries) to fill out your team. Very cool features that were well done, and which are sorely missing from many games. That said, the custom mercenaries are a bit lacking in a certain way; the game features multiple races---mermaids, beastfolk, elves, etc---but these are only main story characters, your mercs are human only.

The ramping of the analog sticks and d-pad is abbismal. It starts very slow then goes way too fast so i'm constantly overshooting where i want to move my character or desired menu item. Annoying and very detracting from an otherwise decent game. My guess is the game was mobile, originally had only touch so controller support was clumsily slapped on for console and/or is crazy because the update timing is based on a fixed 30fps. Buyer beware

Pros: -Good starting game for those that want to explore an under-rated/saturated genre. (on console) -I'm enjoying the story and gameplay. (despite the few issues with it) -Gives me "Tactics Ogre: The knight of lodis" nostalgia. -Priced reasonably. Cons: (noticeable but nothing game breaking) -Periodically broken/over simplified english and unintentional typos. -No screen rotation
