Loot River

I honestly can't believe some of the lower ratings this game has gotten. I have found my experience with this game to be a breath of fresh air. There ARE small quality of life bugs and such, but look at some of the biggest titles from the biggest companies and you'll find even worse issues. I have played games for over a decade, and playing this I can really sense the love and passion that was put into making this game. The art style, enemies, side objectives, characters, story, mechanics, weapons, loot, etc. It all blends together into something ONE OF A KIND. So if you have any interest in this, give it a chance. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

No loot to be had and the combat system is absolutely barebones. Just get the same weapons and gear each run and from my playtime the currency it takes to unlock them is lost upon death unlike Hades or other roguelikes. Unlike most roguelikes the only thing that seems to actually carry over after a run when you die is the negative powerups that you can add to the game to add even more cheap deaths to the game. Meta progression is non-existent. Incredibly disappointed because I was excited for this title when I originally saw the gameplay.

Enjoyed this little game from the first to the last minute. Maybe not as great as dead cells and hades, but definitely a good game. The moving platforms are really fun. I had no problems with the controls and did not find them clunky as others stated. Also liked the sound track. Only lost 1 star bec I thought there should have been another level or two, felt a little short. Didn't encounter a single bug or problem (played 2024 on series x, gamepass)

I really wanted to like this but after about 6-8 hours im folding, mainly because its a little bit too buggy, but i thats not what killed it for me, what finally made me fold on this game is the fact that i got softlocked in my run, thus forcing restart due to the precedural generation aspect of the level layouts, and for a roguelike thats a big no no, because well you lose everything, and one last thing, the difficulty of the game felt all over the place, its decently challenging starting out but once you get even half decent gear everything just became trivial with not much challenge, although i can look past that as there are modifiers you can use to make the game harder, or even easier...But otherwise its a fun game with some soulslike elements with a decent art style and the lore seemed interesting enough, but everything else bogged down the experience for me. But its also hard for me to get into roguelikes because we're just oversaturated with em, so take that for what you will.

Dont let the little issues this game has keep you from playing. You will know right away if this games for you. Enjoy.
