Mortal Shell II: Devout Edition

This game is a top tier Souls like formula at its best. I rank it up there personally with Lies of P and Khazan. It is fantsically beautiful, from the graphics and animations, to the chilling score of chorus that hightens as you enter a Cathedral completley made of bones and litered with rotting corpses. the executions are jaw dropping and the combat itself is intense with many high risk high reward mechanics that make it simply....satisfying. the mechanic of finding the different "shells" you can inhabit is well done and there is even lore for each of them. Very dark, depressing, interesting lore. About 6 hours in and it seems i have hardly scratched the surface even after unlocking 3 shells and another weapon. Come get you feet washed in a pool of milk ladies and gents. This isnt one to miss if you are a souls fan.

After 24 hrs of pre-release game time I can say this is next level in every conceivable way. They could've charged full price. After intro area, get your feet washed by a disciple and practice with Sister Genessa, then you'll get launched to Widow's Overlook. Turn southeast, ignore the boss wandering in circles, look for graveyard outside Mushroom Village. The nimble Tiel shell is there. If you want defense & a butt to look at you'll want Proxima's. B line it north past 2 bats in a tree where some baddies are fighting a monster. Go up a hill turn west where a giant white spider is guarding the beacon. Now you won't get 1 shot so much.

Souls-like you can pause. 10/10

The combat is fun with brutal animations & the atmosphere gorgeously grim with gruesome visuals and gnarly synth-goth metal. It is well crafted.
