Niffelheim
Ellada Games · Action & adventure · Platformer · Role playing
Your avatar is a brave warrior who has fallen in battle. But instead of finding well-deserved peace in Asgard, his soul is trapped in the harsh world of Niffelheim. Survive in this hostile world, ransack the neighboring lands, explore dangerous dungeons and find your way to Valhalla.
I've had this game awhile and the grind/gameplay loop is why I take long breaks.
It takes a LOT of time to progress while doing the exact same thing with little variation.
Hunt/gather above ground and mine/explore dungeons is the loop.
You have a castle that you can upgrade above ground and crafting stations below/inside to upgrade. Both requires materials from above and below, the loop.
Using a skill gains xp and eventually levels it up. At level 3, 6, and 9 you unlock a "perk". Sadly, most of them provide trivial bonus. The real bonus of gaing a skill level is the bonus hps.
Hunger is insanely broken. You could literally eat 20 whole chickens and not be full. I quit because of this, then I learned to buy food in town. 1 or 2 fills you up. Sell gear for $.
Your chicken coop KILLs your chicken after 10-20 eggs. Same goes for sheep and wool. 🙄
Ignore giant monsters destroying your castle. It's cheaper to repair than defend.🙄
4 stars at $4 on sale. 3 stars @$20.

Almost decent
I've had fun for the most part, but the game has a glitch that makes it almost unplayable. The save and exit feature is not working properly. Which makes the constant resource demands a stuggle to maintain. Plus, to keep your walls up and ammo stocked requires more resources then your mine holds. Especially if they manage to get through your defenses and steal your supplies. Needs some balance adjustments. If I see an update to fix the save feature and do some game balancing, I'll give a better score.

Loses savegames constantly
Engrossing game. But glitches your save files constantly making it a waste. When you turn it on you never know if your game will load or if it will reset you to a save file from hours or days ago or worse the begining

Nothing but complaints but sill 4 stars
Its a good game, but the hunger is annoying. By level 25 im starving and cant find everything i need. Then the amount of your hunger that is restored will be gone just as fast. I get your trying to make the game moderatly difficult but 7 meals in a day and your sarving. Then the drop rates for basic things is horrible, the rewards you find in chests are junk. Lastly the game screen boarders are to big and we cant adjust them. Item descriptions can't be read cause its not on the screen.

Niffelheim Hates You (Update)
Niffelheim is one of the prettiest games I've played, and the most ruthless game I've played since Dark Souls. I have the most powerful armor and second most powerful weapon in the game, and monsters rip right through me. I have also maxed out my castle, but it cannot survive a hoard attack, which means my castle gets ransacked. I've spent more titanium rebuilding my castle than I can find to make stinging shot to defend it before the next attack! Everything is expensive, from crafting materials, to the cost of items in the shop. You'll have plenty of two things to craft an item, but the third reagent will be rare, expensive and tedious to find. Getting invaded by a cheating player in Dark Souls is more fun than getting ransacked and killed in Niffelheim.
CRAZYB117: Players come in all skill levels. Glad that you're good at Niffelheim. Use your review to summarize your own experience, rather than comment on mine. Niffelheim is TEDIOUS, not hard. The tediousness makes it ruthless.
