Took a while to "click." Graphics are cool - brings me back to the original Metroid. But the controls are rough w/no option to configure, and the boss fights can be obtuse. Be prepared to die. A lot. However, the ending theme is GLORIOUS. And worth beating the game. Overall, great atmosphere.

This game could have been a top of class Metroidvania. It looks and sound great. Graphics take a little NES, ZX Spectrum and SNES which makes for a great look. Music is on point. The bosses are varied and sometimes have very unique fights. The game is mostly standard upgrades but the Buddy unit is very unique. It allows you to float around the stage finding secrets and hacking enemies(they can help you or kills them.) The game has rough controls. I constantly found myself doing stuff that I didn't want to. I play platformers all the time but something is off. Damage knockback makes for annoying cheap deaths. Hit from the front: fall back into pit. Hit from the back: fall back into pit. You have a map you cannot zoom out on and it's easy to get lost because the game is huge. Exclamation points all over the map; what do they mean?I've already cleared out that room. In the end it's a pretty good Metroidvania close to greatness so if you have played all the greats, give this one a shot.

Game is clunky. 8-bit graphics, which i dont mind. Game is confusing even for a Metroidvania. Should be no more than $5
