Overthrown
Maximum Entertainment · Action & adventure · Simulation · Platformer
Lift and throw anything as you build and manage your kingdom in this chaotic city builder for 1-6 players. Harness the power of your soul-stealing crown to defend your citizens from bandits and mutants, farm the land, and gather resources.
As the title says, this game has a loooot of potential. One of the best, smoothest control schemes of an open world/base builders I've played. You'll see once you start playing that the controls are smooth and pretty fun. The combos are going to be pretty fun to unleash once you gain competency.
Xbox, ya gotta restrict these reviews to people who've actually played and have logged at least an hour of gameplay like steam. It's clear that the nonsensical reviews aren't serving the gamers who come for the glimpse of the game from peers, the devs for feedback, or xbox to see what gamers are saying about their offerings on gamepass. Odd they still allow this to happen. I couldn't find one decent review of the actual gameplay in the first 10 reviews.

Please Add...
An option to Invert the Y axis. As an r\c pilot, pulling back on the right stick is always up. After 40yrs, I just can't pull back to look down. Realize I'm in minority, but it seems like an easy fix. Otherwise, looking forward to this one.

Here's how to invert right stick
this isnt an in game solution, but it works. hit the xbox button, go to your profile, and controllers and accessories. then go to your controller profile. here, you can name the game, and hit the edit button. you can rebind all your buttons, invert and swap sticks. i'm playing with invert controls right now. until the game gives the option, this is your duct tape solution. you WILL have to manually swap back to your default controls to play another game, but it's a minor annoyance.

Looking at the game for what it is.
This game has some potential to be a fun city builder with side combat to keep you entertained. Almost gives tower defense vibes, having to protect your town. Right now there is not alot of tutorial help, and there are definitely bugs. There is also like no way of making money or getting food outside of growing crops, which really puts a strangle on your town's happiness and your soldier's pockets. Adding caves, wildlife, fishing, and maybe some other things would greatly improve the experience of the game, and maybe also explain things better, or introduce shops differently for better QOL. Given time this could be a super fun town builder/exploration game and am excited to see where it goes. Armor, spells, companions or pets, i see flying stuff on the game road map. Keep improving!

Middle of the road: 12/05/24
I'm going into this understanding it's a preview. In all honesty it reminds me of Portal Knights x Pixark.
The movement mechanics are super solid: Wall jumping, clambering, jump dashing, sprinting w/drift, edge skimming reminiscent of AC games.
The building is...a little too simple. Have the resources? Boom, building can be placed, but at least it can be picked back up and moved.
Combat is pretty hack n' slashy.
You can raise/lower terrain w/the shovel, and plant/farm.
Research appears to be based on pop but the skill tree is VERY SMALL as of review.
There is only 1 playable character model, female, with 8 color variations - I didn't see any armor variations or other cosmetics save for off-hand items.
Overall, this is currently very middle of the road for me. It's quirky, has some charm but lacks depth, and I'm interested to see where exactly they take this. 20 msrp is ok....I'd do maybe 15 until it's up to par. I'll revisit this title in a couple updates. Also no cheevos currently.
