Planet RIX-13
Sometimes You · Action & adventure · Other
Planet RIX-13 is a classic 2D adventure with pixel art graphics that takes place on an uncharted planet. You are the pilot of a spacecraft that is looking for and exploring worlds that are potentially suitable for life.
The game is very short & basic which isn't always a bad thing. Beyond Eyes for example is a very basic game but it's one of my favorite indie games of all time. However Planet RIX-13 fails to deliver in the story department. I wasn't drawn in & felt nothing for anyone in the game, including the main character. I didn't even care about the peaceful/violent end solution choice at the end of the game & felt nothing but complete indifference, performing both just for the achievements. To say the ending is lacking is a massive understatement! I enjoyed the simple gameplay but wasn't emotionally invested in the game at all & that's what I look for in little games like these. The game had a neat little setup but went nowhere with it. I didn't expect much story for the price but I did expect more than I got.

Would buy again
Is this game going to change your life? No. Is it a fun way to spend an hour? Yes. This is a pretty straightforward sci-fi adventure with some light puzzles. A couple of the achievements made me laugh, and I liked that the game didn't take itself too seriously. For five dollars, I'd buy this again.
