R-Type Final 2 Digital Deluxe Edition

R-Type has always been my favorite of the side-scrolling shooter genre for its creative game mechanics, which emphasize strategy over reflexes, and its gorgeous, imaginative visuals and unrivaled boss battles. R-Type Final was a real treasure and a personal favorite, and I was overjoyed to get a new installment after so many years. And with all 101+ unlockable ships and several DLC campaigns (CAMPAIGNS, not just stages), there's plenty here for longtime fans to sink their teeth into. Just know what you're getting into...casual gamers, or those who are easily frustrated, may be in for a rough time here. But it's a love letter to R-Type fans. My only real annoyance is the fact that the RTF 3 upgrade is apparently a PS5 exclusive for some reason, which really feels like a slap in the face to those of us who want to play on other platforms.

Remember the Resident Evil movie from 2000? The scene where the chick that was bitten like 5 times sits down and says "I just can't"... thats exactly how I feel after playing this game for more than 1 hour

Waited for sale since this game first came out because the price was just nuts for an R-Type game, especially with how short it is, and bad enough the standalone game ISN'T EVEN THE WHOLE GAME when I learned of "stage passes", are you serious? I figured the DELUXE edition would at least be the WHOLE game.... Nope. Not in 2022. Now they want you to buy games in bits and pieces, this is just asinine... almost feels like false advertising, as there literally does not exist a way to even buy a side scrolling shooter where you just pay one price, to buy one game, and get the COMPLETE game... Very disappointing.

As a die-hard R TYPE fan, I can tell you that this is a fantastic XBONE entry for the series, it's got everything an R TYPER needs and then some, so if ur familiar with the series, u already know what ur getting yourself into here. With that being said, casual gamers will prolly not enjoy it. Even on easy settings the difficulty level is outright absurd even for seasoned veterans like myself, don't get me wrong I really enjoy playing it cuz I love super challenging shmup games, but if ur not ok with dying over n over in the process of learning how to get through it, then u may want to skip this one cuz the difficulty is so much so that I feel many people will not find it fun.

I had a demo disk for the ps2 way back in 2007 that had this game, and it has stuck with me ever since. The crazyness of the levels, surrealness of the enemies, ITS AWESOME! This game lives up to everything I hoped it would, and goes beyond my expectations! Love the custom pilot section for how In-Depth it goes, and the Decals for the ship. It could go on, but I cant say this enough: Thank you for bringing this game back 😁
