Re.Surs is a futuristic story-driven 2D side-scrolling shooter featuring unique heroes with various abilities. Shoot, dash, kick and hack monsters as you try to uncover the secrets of the Re.Surs dark energy and demons' interdimensional invasion.
I'm worried this sci-fi/action pixel gem will get overlooked due to its release window, which is doubly frustrating because the price point is excellent.
*The art design and use of effects is just excellent. Backgrounds, lighting, swirls of leaves and dust, awesome stuff.
*The soundtrack, a kind of industrial synth with moody riffs outside of combat, sets the atmosphere very well.
*The story stops short of riveting due to its mute protagonist and single-minded push from one beat to the next, but the central mystery is engaging.
*Unfortunately, combat is middling. Enemies within your hitbox range can hit you but you can't hit them. You have to keep moving and are given powers to aid that movement, but the screen fills with multiple enemies from both sides, including flying enemies you can't hit unless you're on a raised platform, because you only shoot straight. Not up or down or at an angle. So combat turns into bouncing between damage points.
Re.Surs IS worth $8, but frustrating.

Neat Gem
Simple sidescroller shooter with great music, art design, and enjoyable. Cool short but sweet twilight zone/x-files storyline. Overall i recommend, easy achievements.
