Solar Shifter EX

I am a huge fan of shoot em up bullet hell games....When they're done right. This shootem up looks gorgeous but plays the exact opposite. Why on earth does the game mechanics have you shoot or get shot at diagonally? Not only does this mechanic make it frustrating it makes it not so fun. I expected this to be like Ikaruga or Gunbird but it doesnt come close. Such potential and amazing graphics are thwarted. Heres hoping the up and coming Cuphead brings back life into this genre, If not then give us DeathSmiles backwards compatible. 2/5

This actually plays more like a "runner" than an old school shooter. You must know where the waves are headed and move pre-emptively to a part of the screen that isn't full of fire and/or enemies. Where you can move is often hindered by the camera angle changing. There is a "disappear/reappear" move thats helps with the strategy. You aren't required to quickly tap to fire, you just hold the trigger down and it does it for you. There are of course weapon load outs that you unlock as you progress further into the game, that make it a little more interesting. Not a game I'd pay more than 5bucks for.

Not sure what this is supposed to be. A failure as a "shmup" for sure. enemies just fly on to screen in a single line formation and fire nonstop lasers. if youre in the right spot on screen, youre golden. wrong spot, youre dead. Enemies dont seem to actually even target the players ship, they just fire in whatever pre-programmed spot on screen they emerge from. i played until stage 3. every level seemed the same. desert / mountain planet with cities everywhere. buy Ikaruga on 360 and play it in BC instead.

i want to like this game but having to wait to reload the level after every death destoys all any immersion then is made obnoxious having to listen to the sam loud voiceovers.

Far too difficult. Needs infinite continues. Buy Radiantsilvergun on 360 instead
