SONIC FORCES

I didn't try Sonic Forces until this year despite being a big Sonic fan since the very first game in '91. Having heard mostly negative things about it, I went in expecting the worst. To my surprise, I would be lying if I said I wasn't enjoying it so far. I know it's short, but there's quite a bit to do in order to 100% complete everything (though I wish you could get all the collectibles in one go rather than having to replay each level 4 times each. That's just artificially extending the game). Maybe I'm just starved for decent 3D Sonic gameplay, because I'm actually taking a break from Sonic Frontiers to play this. Frontiers is great, but the short cyber stages are giving me the itch to tear through some longer stages in other Sonic games.

The graphics and environments are vibrant. Story and stages feel disconnected due to how they set up the world map. No Adventure-style roaming. I guess the team got scared of making another Sonic 2006. Controls require patience at first. 3D stages are the fun rollercoaster on rails type of speed play. Movement in 2D stages appear off at first as jumping feels heavy. If you try to compare the controls to Dreamcast and Sega Genesis Sonic games, you'll be aggravated. But this is Sonic 2017. Semi-quick reflexes required (this game is easy). Oh, and this game is pretty short - even for $40. Sonic is fast and this game went by fast.

It's not awful like the haters say but it's not good like the defenders say it is either. It's an extremely mediocre Sonic game that needed more time to stew.

The game doesnt open\launch from home or in general. Totally unplayable

Sonic Forces... Hyped to no end, fell just short of the finish. It's an okay game, great visuals and voice acting, great sound tracks, lots of stages... But... The controls arent great. Sonic used to feel free and fun but he felt so limited, controlling him in the air was awful, jumps were so stiff, often found Sonic flying passed things I wanted despite slowing down and also found he was too slow to jump to another platform. Double jump was awful, plain and simple. Lastly, stages and bosses were too short and too easy. Wheres Chaos? Infinite wasnt that great. Where did Eggman go or what happened to him? Overall, this gets a 6.5/10 from me... Maybe next time SEGA
