STAY COOL, KOBAYASHI-SAN!: A RIVER CITY RANSOM STORY

If you think this will be on par with River City Girls you'll be super disappointed. It's a average retro beat 'em up with no real type of focus (the controls are ok the game suffers from no real direction you are never given a clue where to go (The game itself has a very authentic Asian feel to it but, i don't think it was changed around for Western Cultural at all) I agree with the previous reviewer wait for it to go onsale it's not worth the high original retail price

Wow, where to start... Thankfully only bought this for a dollar and STILL feel ripped off. First, this is another "game" requesting permissions from you before it'll even run. The sound is random, it worked fully only once for me and seems to be only one track and though English is an option in settings, it never changedfor me. Enemies make these annoying, high pitched squeals and when you have 4 enemies on screen, the racket will make you appreciate when the sound doesn't work. Theres no map that I could find, no dropped weapons like RCR usually has, just recolors of the same enemy shown in screenshots. Control is limited and flighty. I couldn't put up with it long enough to figure out upgrades. There's way better games out there, don't waste your time or money on this.

Thought it was gunna be like river city girls but had a feeling cuz of the price difference it wouldn't be and i was right...its an ok game but it dont really explain anything how to play and u pretty much run anywhere idk Now that I figured out how to upgrade everyone so they have more health im liking it better..... Wait for a sale

Not terrible but also not worth your money. Wait for a sale if you think you need this.

This game is, sadly, broken. After reading the harsh reviews I bought this determined to give it a fair chance to win me over. Then I started playing. No sound. Turned up volume, heard the XBox tray. Maybe my headset connected weird? Force quit, reopen. One syllable of Japanese blasted into my ears, a moment of static, no sound. Other games play sound just fine. Nope, music, & sfx are all silent except for momentary bursts at the beginning of every stage. Technos! Arc! River City Ransom was my favorite game on the NES & had a great soundtrack! How could you let me down like this?!
