Spartan SC1138
This a great game, but it has 1 huge problem.
I just want to start out by saying that I love this game and that it's a true gem for people who love a challenge even on easy mode. The way you have to look everything over and actually plan things out is awesome. Bandit raids can be nail biting if you pick the wrong fight or simply are unable to give the bandits what they want. Other times bandit raids are pretty funny watch, when the bandits bit off more than they could chew. Exploration is another part of this game that I love as doing so can net you scavenged resources and resource mining sites. Overall there is a lot to geek out about this game, however I am experiencing crashes and sound issues and they can get pretty bad sometimes. With all that said, I highly recommend Surviving the aftermath and I look forward to seeing more awesome expansions and dlc for this game. Good luck and have fun. 😎

The final product
I've been around since either day 1 or shortly after and I gotta say, what a ride. The game itself is fun, I love these style of games. Soundtrack is great. Gameplay can be tedious sometimes. Now the performance? That's probably one of the biggest flaws atm. The game stutters, there are audio/visual bugs, and sometimes the AI don't take care of themselves. Even if there's ample food or spread out med tents (with vacant slots). End game can be hard to deal with because of how much is going on. That being said, if the game gets a well deserved (and much needed patch) then I think it'll be a lot better! The DLC's are interesting as they add to the mix. If colony sim builder are your thing, then try it. I think the devs will eventually get to StA after the big projects are done.

First game I bothered to rate.
The game overall is well done, I havent experienced any crashes or save issues but I'm playing on the Xbox one X and that may be a factor compared to other reviewers. Starting out is tough, there is little in the way of instruction, the few pop up hints are useful so I suggest taking a second or two to look them over. Gameplay is not bad once your used to the controls and shortcuts, knowing the "hold right trigger+AXYB" commands speeds up the game alot, be sure to make use of the time controls as well. The overall objective of the game is about keeping a colony on a hostile world alive and profitable, don't expect training wheels. Mismanagement of your resources will lead to a quick map restart, but because of this the gameplay is rewarding and fun. Nothing quite like building that first sustainable habitat. Only real complaint is lack of a very in depth tutorial, and the music loop being very short on some stations.

Crashes every 5 minutes
Great game and i purchased all of the dlcs, but the more you advance, the bigger your camp, and then it starts to crash. When you load from the last save, you now have to remember what you built in the last 5 minutes so you can build it again. I can't recommend purchasing the game because of this

0 Stars if possible
The game is actually really good, I've put alot of hours into this game. Ever since I downloaded i haven't played anything else. Now there're two major issues that need to be addressed: 1) The constant and annoying crashes. 2) The dlcs, let me explain. For every new dlc, you hve to start anew game in order to play the dlc, why can it be played with your current game. Other than that, i think this is 5 stars game. Today is January 8 / 2026, im changing my previous rating for two reasons: 1 After all these years you (developer Iceflake Studios) haven't fix the crashes. This game is literally unplayable. 2 Selling a broken game for 30+ dollars is just ******.
