Tandem: A Tale of Shadows

Tandem is a fantastic puzzle platformer that deals with 2 characters, one on a 2D platformer plane and the other a 3/4 perspective plane that you switch between. The shadows you make in the 3/4 perspective can be used by the 2D character for platforming. All of this taking place in a beautiful Tim Burton-esque dark fantasy world. The game keeps changing up the challenges and gimmicks(along with scenery) every 10 or so levels to keep it fresh. The music is good and I experienced 1 minor glitch. Its short and you can get the 1000GS and see everything there is to see in 4-6 hours. It doesnt have a deep story but has a fantastic ending you won't see coming. I got this one on sale and it's worth every penny, so give it a go puzzle lovers.

Really fun mechanics. Beautiful artistic design.

I really enjoyed Tandem as it brings innovative game mechanics I had not seen in many games before. The music is fantastic. I was a bit surprised by the end but it probably hints a follow-up or a DLC

Every time my Xbox idles and the controller DCs, the D-pad and ABXY buttons stop working until I restart the game. Other than that, the gameplay is great and the puzzles are well thought out.

I've just started and already hit a few problems but none so far game breaking, like a spot you can fall through the map every time you walk to it (Jack's level) and the dialogue problem to name a couple of the things. There's nearly no story going on. This is a game that suffers from that. You get some cutscenes here & there, which look nice (though at least 1 cutscene is a little glitchy & has camera angle problem), aren't really a story unfolding either. Not a game of interconnecting levels taking you some place as a game with an actual unfolding story would. Each level is fairly short & are just puzzle layouts to solve. They are enjoyable but strip away the beautiful presentation and it's just puzzle layouts that could be done easily with minimalist graphics. Game seems like a cool idea that didn't get completed nor all the kinks worked out. It does look great & maybe further in a cool story will start to unfold, maybe.
