Alil' stiff around the edges
Graphics look good, smooth 1440p 120hz . Players feel alittle stiff. But you get used to it. I like they used the AO2 engine to build on, it just feels alitte robotic at times..(using left and right triggers to sprint, something to get use to) I guess being accustomed to AO2's mechanics and general game play, anticipations and so forth.. Here, choosing your shots: flat, slice, top spin, etc.. timing your shot and which type is a bit awkward ..you either nail a great shot or its all net. To be fair it takes time to learn new mechanics.. certainly alot of control funtions to master. how long and how fast to press/select your shot is everything. Tutorials are a must . Devs if your reading we need in-depth difficulty sliders to fit different gaming styles and AI.. It would be nice to see what actually changes between difficulty modes in a graph or something. so please don't cater to arcade gameplay in any updates. give us the power to unlock the sim we know you can give us!

So much potential, but fundamentally falls short
I got this game after playing a considerable amount of TopSpin, and while there’s plenty I do like about TIEBREAK, it falls short on the fundamental gameplay. Things to enjoy: the number of pro players included (casts a huge shadow over TopSpin), the depth to Career mode, the serve mechanics, the ability to sprint; just to name a few of the positives. You can get lost in menu-ing (in a good way); I appreciate that level of detail in a sports game, especially tennis. Beyond that though… the gameplay feels rigid, whereas TopSpin has a more fluid feel. There’s a lot more nuance to strokes which could have been a good thing, but it doesn’t feel like you get as much control over the court as you do in TopSpin. I don’t even know if update(s) can fix what I think this game falls short on. In a perfect world, combining TIEBREAK with TopSpin would be an amazing tennis game. I’ll continue to play and see if it grows on me, but as of now it feels like the game fell short of what I was hoping for.

Much better now
I bought the game around release and it was a mess, but a somewhat fun mess. Now in June '25, it is a much better experience. The animations are clean and movement has been improved exponentially. It has, by far, the best roster ever for a tennis game and its career mode is awesome. I can't speak to the online because I don't play it. It's a solid 8/10 game that you will love if you love tennis.
