Wreckreation

The driving is a bit clunky, and it seems traffic loves to hide behind those checkpoint signs. I guess i was expecting it to be more like Burnout Paradise, but after rear ending an opponent at 200mph and only I wrecked? This is why demos and betas are so important.

(UPDATE: 2 patches added since launch has made a huge difference in gameplay) I'm having a ton of fun racing, customizing courses, my car, etc. However, there are fixes needed to gameplay and added content to put more meat on the bone. Other than that, this a really fun arcade racer!

The DNA of Burnout Paradise is here to see. The race styles, the takedowns, the Billboards and the Barrel rolls. The main difference is the map. The maps huge and fully open, but currently does miss a big City to race around. The additional discovery item is live pieces that will help you build you own race tracks and stunt arenas. Its great to see 3FE roll out their first patch for improvements as well. This could easily earn a 5* in time.

I'm very impressed by Wreckreation! If you grew up playing the Burnout Series back in the 2000s, like myself, on the PS3 or Xbox 360, you will definitely like this game. The gameplay, graphics, soundtracks, and crashes are very good. However, the handling of some cars felt a bit weird to me at first but I got used to it after a while. There are some minor bugs that I've encountered but not at all game breaking. Burnout will always be legendary and I do wish there were some things from the old burnout games that were present in Wreckreation such as the "Marked Man" missions and "Showtime" but it's still a very fun and nostalgic arcade racer!!
