All-Star Fruit Racing

You can't trust xbox user reviews these days. I'd give this 4 stars normally, but I'll be generous and give it a 5, to make up for all the bunk reviews. This game looks, controls, and plays well. The tracks are dynamic and fun, and the weapon system is something a little different from your average cart racer. Reminds me a bit of Beach Buggy Racing, another quality, budget racing title. Worth full price, but you can catch it on sale, which is a steal.

I play all kart racers. The Pros here are an interesting weapon system that i love, reasonable achievements, and a good selection of tracks and gametypes, and a drift boost that does matter (not enough though) The 1 major flaw that kinda makes me dislike this game is the fact that its simply too hard to stay competitive in the races themselves. If you are in 2nd place with the racer 15 yards in front......you'll have to drift boost every turn (even hitting boost pads) for 1/3 of the race to catch up and pass them......and if you are ever hit by weaponry you might as well restart the race then and there. You'll spend 1/2 the race clawing from 5th to 2nd, get hit by 1 unavoidable weapon, and immediately find yourself in 7th place. They just didnt balance out the racing mechanics with the weaponry well at all. I find myself restarting every race in a cup 3 or 4 times just to get a reasonable placement. This turns a 6 minute race, into a 20+ minute race, and a 25 minute cup, into a hour

The game is fun and basic when it comes to gameplay and understanding the mechanics, but it seems like it's a bit lacking in effects department. There is something lacking in these areas such as the sense of speed and attributes of your vehicle. When you go fast there should be speed effects such as stream lines and camera shake that vibrates your controller. After landing a big jump there should be a small bounce and a sense of impact just like it also should be for getting hit by weapons etc. The physics are there, but it isn't as strong as it should be. The game is fun, but lacking in a rew minor areas that would make it better, but the idea is well executed, hopefully it still gets updates to make it a bit better!

Everytime the race countdown starts the game will crash & go back to the dashboard.

Not sure why so much hate, doesn't crash or freeze for me Pros: Super tight controls that rival the best, great kart customization and many characters, perfect amount of challenge placed 3rd in first race then 1st in rest but had to drive good, best drift in any kart racer, great tracks with alternate paths. CONS: The sounds are god awful, pickups/abilities are a little confusing with the ABXY method but standard style is fine, no character customization or create a character. Mostly minor things, worth a play IMO
