Assassin's Creed Chronicles – Trilogy

If you like sidescrollers and Assassin's Creed check these out. Fun games but make sure to play in order. China 1st India 2nd Russia last.

Can't blame Ubisoft for trying to squeeze every last drop out of this franchise, except Chronicles has little in common with its 3-D bigger brothers outside of name. Developed by Climax Studios (not Ubisoft, as erroneously stated above -they only served as publishers here), Chronicles is a trilogy of capable stealth-based side-scrollers, but the stories are thin, the level design is often bland and repetitive, and the combat mechanics are unforgiving. Not worth the $10 per price, or even the $25 bundle price, but the 50% off sale price of $12.50 made for a deal too good to pass up.

AC Chronicles games are faithful to the series but since they are only 2D games you must be very deliberate in your actions. A lot of encounters can only be solved one way, and if you can't guess the one way you just die repeatedly.

LIKES The soundtrack is beautifully composed. The graphics and art style. The puzzles have a natural progression. The latitude of the level design. The story is decent and grounded. The gameplay has much more depth. DISLIKES The missions types are varied but get repetitive. Too much trial and error on these missions. There are occasional glitches.

I loved the stealth parts, but the endless runner segments were an exercise in anger management, and they completely ruined the experience.
