Battle Axe

The art by Henk Nieborg and music by Manami Matsumae are excellent. Gameplay is nicely responsive but the precise spacing and angles of each character's attacks takes getting used to. A lot like a mash up of ideas in Gauntlet and Golden Axe but ultimately its own thing. Desperately needs a demo because apprecitation will come from actually playing if nothing else -- retro/older gamers won't automatically love it and newer gamers won't despise it by default, as many online reviews have shown. For the amount of content, $30 USD seems too much; $10 or less seems more appropriate so look out for sales. I have enjoyed my hours so far, and it weirdly became more enjoyable when I had already put in several hours over multiple sessions -- Gauntlet and most retro/arcade games grow stale to me after a few hours playing solo. Lack of the "special edition" updates (like Casual mode and strafing mechanics) along with no online multiplayer are my only serious complaints.

It's an okay game that reminds me of Capcom's King of Dragons, but this one is difficult. I enjoyed King of Dragons way more.

Graphics are nice and remind me of Illusion of Gaia. Everything else sucks. Game doesn't tell you how to play. There's a shop after each stage but damned if it tells you wtf the items are or do. Enemies swarm you Diablo style but you die in 4 hits with only 3 lives and zero continues. A lot of enemies have invulnerability frames as well as will range attack you from off screen. Hit detection for you is a chore, especially with projectiles as enemies can shoot through things you cannot as well as curve there shots like a sniper in Wanted. Camera is too zoomed in and enemies literally spawn on top of you. The game is a sham, don't waste your time unless it's free.

😃😃Game is great!!! It is a throwback arcade game based on a 8 gate joystick setting. I only gave it 4stars because of price and no Online COOP Room setup. Come on designers online coop should be a standard by now. Yeah very fun, simple recommend buying whe on sale.

You get 3 lives and that's it! No continues at all. You die and lose all your progress. You have to have a modded turbo controller to get pass stages.
