Battlezone Gold Edition

It's a solid shooter where you're a tank that controls like a hovercraft. But beware, playing solo is ostensibly harder compared to co-op. No free revives, limited healing, and all the extra lives you buy come from your pocket. In co-op, lives are shared but individually purchased, because each player earns their own money. You lose out on that in solo. Why's this so important? Well, at some point, the game will decide to spawn some of the strongest enemies in such a way that they have direct line-of-sightto you, and they will immediately shoot at you upon spawning. In co-op, this is more an inconvenience. Two shots from these guys kills, but you can be revived an infinite number of times so long as you are reached in 30ish seconds. Playing solo, however, you get no incapacitated state, so these spawns can often cost you a valuable life or even your run. Save yourself the headache and play co-op if you can, otherwise, don't count on a fair experience every game.

I've been missing good tank games, WOT never hooked me. This one's great. I get alot of replay value. I've experienced none of the problems or glitches some have mentioned. I do agree that the difficulty is hard -on "easy." Even on the short campaign and on "normal" I can't beat it. I wish i could find a cheat code. However it's a great fun challenge that is unique. I am disappointed with the lack of online players. Co-op is great, when people are out there. "Byk Hed 909"

Battle Zone 2000 (Atari Lynx) was 1 of the greatest games of all time. Still play it once in a while. This 1 would be even better if more people played online. 🤔 90% off for the next 2 weeks & not enough people know about it. 🤔

Doesn't take long to catch on to things, and you get caught right up in the action. If you respawn and you can't move, if you give a commend to yourself or a teammate you'll be able to go then. It doesn't say to do that but I think that's why it holds you up.

Game is fun arcade style action.Lots of upgrades and weapons to experiment with. Although each playthru is procedurally generated, games/maps become repetitve. Play solo or online co-op with up to 3 others. Start your own campaign or jump in and out with others. One issue is respawn/extra lives which are shared with team, you can have a late player join, and use all respawns after an hour+ game, essentially ruining a campaign run. I also have encountered a death respawn bug, where if you allow respawn timer to count down to zero, your tank can not move when you do respawn. Co-op is fun, and has competitive element as you compete for points, kills and resources, to buy better weapons, while still working together to survive. Graphics are mediocre, yet servicable. I would really like more effort put into sound design, explosions/gunfire need more weight, and the music is good but repetitive. Not sure its worth current price point of $33, maybe worth $20. SCORE: 6.5 out of ten.
