Played this on PS1 and N64 back in the day...it's still fun as hell, and it plays just as smooth as it did back then, unfortunately multiplayer for this is a ghost town, and the DEVS made the really stupid decision to remove BOT function from multiplayer...still 4 stars because I enjoy playing the campaign...if you enjoy games like DESCENT and OVERLOAD, then this one is worth the modest price, just don't expect any multiplayer fun out of it...

better in some ways but worse in others
i miss the multiplayer bots. they were the highlight of the original. however they did improve the single player campaign. i still prefer the 64 version which I could play for hours and not get bored.

Please, PLEASE! BRING BACK 4-Player Splitscreen! 😢
Nobody has any SEMBLANCE of an idea how much this Hardcore Game's Splitscreen had My Three Brothers & Me, along with a few of our Best Friends, shouting at our Dad's big screen during one of many late night ragers we threw JUST as it hit store shelves!
After a near death brain surgery that resulted in being wheelchair-bound, bedridden, getting landed with brain cancer, migraines, and seizures.
(and lol No, don't worry about me! After 9yrs, and 6 months in and out of radiation, I'm using various styles of canes)
With only two brothers and that one real good buddy we've all had since elementary; FORSAKEN ReMASTERED in the XBOX LIVE STORE I saw this, I HAD TO CALL THEM!!
But we didn't get Five minutes in before the lot of Us all came to the same realization at once-
This FORSAKEN.... was "ONLINE ONLY"
it's a small, insignificant gripe, i know... but FORSAKENs Splitscreen had us playing for HOURS!
Please, WHOMEVER YOU MAY BE- I'm certain a SplitScreen Patch wouldn't be to much hassle!

Fantastic Dose of Nostalgia.
Like stumbling back into 1998 🙂 Looks every bit as beautiful as it did on pc way back when. It runs buttery-smooth, handles wonderfully and of course, has that awesome little soundtrack... I hopped in, and was instantly groovin' 😁
THANK YOU to all involved for bringing this title up to speed for us on Xbox One, this means a lot. So many great memories jammin' this game with my old roomie for hours on end. Would love to see bots, but on the whole... this is a truly delicious slice of nostalgia ❤⚔❤
[edit²] Map rotation speed seems to be directly affected by character movement speed. Once I had dialed it back down the map became instantly more manageable. Would still like to see them have separate settings. Works great now 😎
I hope Xbox will continue with remasters such as these as often as possible because this is the shizz 🙂 All I need now are: Quake (complete series of course 😀), Rune, Unreal, original Shadow Warrior and Blood and I'll be one happy dude 😁
Cheers!

A blaster from the past
I never owned Forsaken back when it came out. I played it on ps1 in a store and was blown away by the visuals, especially the lighting, but walked away without a purchase.
I am so glad Nightdive took the plunge and chose to remaster such a random game. Forsaken is great. It's a challenge, for sure, but it feels very fair and since the enemies aren't hit-scan most of the tools are in your hands.
A lack of enemy variety and some cheesy spawns hurt it a bit, but excellent, moody levels are the real star of the show here. On Xbox One X it now runs at a lovely 60 fps and with very solid dual analog controls that work right out of the box.
If you love games like Descent, Aquanox, and Overload, then give this one a go. It's highly enjoyble even after 20 years.
