Nine Parchments
Frozenbyte · Action & adventure · Role playing · Shooter
Nine Parchments is a co-operative blast'em up game of magical mayhem!
Runaway apprentice wizards seize the opportunity to complete their spellbooks by going after the lost Nine Parchments.
As the would-be wizards rapidly acquire powerful new spells without learning proper safety measures, it's natural their hasty progress results in plenty of deadly accidents...
A twin stick shooter type with added elements. It's not as pick up and play to the degree many of these are( I.E. this one has you juggling spells quite a bit), but all the elements of a good game are there if you have an extra few moments to familiarize yourself and your mates. Although the style and graphics are pleasing, the pacing of the game can be a slog as you struggle to get out of harms way. Because of the characters needing a seemingly 50% speed boost at all times, you will need to constantly be planning ahead and premtively shooting far down field to get a jump on the prevention of being pounced upon. For a perfectly capable couch co-op couple, this game would be perfect and perhaps even a bit of a challenge. For the Mario Kart, Yoshis' Story odd couple, maybe keep to the plush toys holding shooters instead.

Solid co-op game
Game with a similar feel to gauntlet legends, that being said the gameplay is a bit different. The game has a simplified feel with a good number of levels a bit on the short side but since the story isn't too in-depth you don't feel like your replaying the same stuff over and over. Main goal of the game is unlocks: characters, skill trees, variants, staffs and hats. I do wish the staffs and hats were on a random loot roll for stats since staffs are quite limited and hats are only cosmetic but it works for it's simple nature. Other reviewers have mentioned this game is difficult, while it does require some tactics, I'd say the difficulty is pretty casual, solo is a bit harder. Multiplayer games are a bit hard to find since the player base is a bit small, so I'd suggest posting in looking for group instead of just sitting forever in matchmaking. Worth the money if your looking for good ARPG to keep you busy for a week or a few.

Solid Game. Why so many negative reviews?
This is a hidden gem and on sale for $5, it's worth it if you like twin stick over head shooters (move with left, shoot with right). It is playable solo but it shines with co-op.
Negative reviews because too hard?.....Easy mode, use your dash(x), melee(Lt) is useful, constantly be switching powers, or pick the female mage to drop healing wells to just face tank damage.
You are not meant to beat the game first play. It set up on a failed run system and rng skills per adventure. One run you can get good skills that carry or you get weak skills making some runs feel hard. Start a game, go as far as you can, level up, then start a new adventure with leveled character.
This is a sour patch of a game. The constant switch of powers, the repetition of restarting adventures, the grind to level up, sometimes bad rng on pick 1 of 3 powers....all things that can leave a sour taste at first but once you get past the learning curve there is a sweet game to enjoy with your friends.

Good all around, but if solo it's infuriating to play
Fun to play, but needs AI companions if your solo-ing even after waiting for someone to matchmake into your game for almost an hour. Or atleast give us the option to have AI players or something.
