The fastest racing game in the universe. Redout 2 is a tribute to classic arcade racing games and the sequel to the critically acclaimed Redout. Reach impossible speeds in exhilarating futuristic races across an extensive single-player campaign and competitive multiplayer.
In recent years the racing genre has felt oversaturated and not very diverse with location/map per game. The market has felt like a yearly copy & paste but this game is diffrent, you can feel the sensations the developers are trying to convey. It surprisingly does feel focused on the player's enjoyment, especially once the ships reach the 750+ power range (which does take a bit too long to reach imo). It's controls are easy to grasp and it's nowhere as complicated as people make it out to be (and this is coming from a casual gamer too). I didn't experience much of a learning curve, it's tutorial was streamline and comprehensive, if you are worried about skill issues I can assure you that it won't be very hard to learn the contols and there are tons of assists and varying selectable difficulties, making the game casual-gamer friendly.

So much potential, so close
I absolutely loved the original RedOut which is one of the only titles on the Xbox that will literally make my hands sweat, locked at 60fps, edge of your seat with a need to have absolutely perfect reaction times and a blasting soundtrack.
The sequel comes with some good but also some bad; it used to advertise itself at 60 FPS but no longer can because an update broke that at some point and it now seems to be a 30fps title sadly (no modern racing game should be 30fps), the graphics are much better in contrast to the original's mostly flat polygon Picasso look. However, the gameplay just doesn't quite feel that adrenaline pumping, and the music, while good, oddly sometimes plays so quietly I can barely hear it even blasting my surround system and turning the SFX way down...
If they could optimize this to 60fps and fix the music volume issues, this would be a solid 5

Still 30fps....
Its an absolute shame they dropped the fps down to 30. A racer like this needs 60 at the least to really be appreciated for all that it is. I doubt we'll get that fixed in an update. Devs havent touched this game in a long time. Damn shame.

After update...
Game runs smooth at 60fps, on series s now, now have plans buying the dlc and put more time into this anti gravity racer. Awesome job.

BROKEN FRAMERATE ON XSX
Used to run at 60fps but has been performing around 30fps after an update long ago. Which sucks since this game is REALLY GOOD. Hope it gets patched soon
