I did not buy this game when it first came out. A guy I worked with came in and dropped it on my desk. He said he wanted it back after I beat it. He also said, "Play it in the dark." There are very few games I distinctly remember my first time playing. This game is seared into my memory. Ultimately I did buy my own copy. I played it over and over. Funny enough the never lost it's tension. That's a masterpiece. Just play it in the dark.

Old but gold
As someone who started with RE4 this was a real eye opener for me. Instead of blasting every zombie that moves, I actually have to save up ammo and plan my next move. The puzzles were so brilliantly well made and fun to solve. The story was fun to follow and overall atmosphere was spooky and actually had me on my toes at all times. Just a really soild horror game in general. 👍

Bad reviews
The 15 year olds complaining about "terrible controls oh lord the camera angles i cant play this my ***** hurts" just dont understand the game was on PS1 old as dirt and here for the nostalgia not for the riveting graphics. No its not modern at all. Go back to hitting the griddy somewhere else

Dont knock it till you try it
I just turned 17 and have now been a huge fan of this series for over a year. Resident Evils 2,3, and 4 remake as well as 4og - 8 completely took over my life all of last year. I was hesitant as a modern gamer to try RE1 since i didnt think i would enjoy it. But i was completely wrong and loved it like the others. Capcom adjusts difficulty perfectly for their gameplay. If u at least enjoy 4 & 5 then ul like this
