A nostalgic blast from the past!
This gem of a game needs more love as it truly pays homage to the late Buichi Terasawa (RIP). A majority of the story is based on the 1982 anime. Even the cutscenes from in-game are taken from the anime as well. Space Adventure Cobra's story is very rich sci-fi fantasy during its time period.
Anyway, this game really focuses on run & gun gameplay. A good tip would be to continuously shoot your psycho-gun ahead of you off screen. The music also sounds awesome and reminiscent to the anime. Though my only complaint would be trying to manually direct Cobra's psycho beam. Even with aim assist turned on/off it can sometimes veer into a nearyby enemy/switch when you're trying hit another enemy/switch. Which can be a little annoying. Though I wish the end boss in mission 13-1 got a cooler death animation (or anime cutscene) by getting blasted into space just like in the anime, as the in-game one felt anti-climatic. Now I feel like re-reading the mangas and rewatching the movie, anime & OVA's!
