Syberia - Remastered

the faithful 2002 classic is back in a whole new way, everything people remember is mostly here. some of the puzzles are different, and moving Kate can take some getting used. but overall it's a solid update remaster, so don't pay attention to the negative reviews. some people may not like all the changes, but if you're new to the game in general, this is the best very so far and i love the original. so all in all this is a game that's all about Kate's journey, so it's worth buying.

As someone who was late to Kate's journey by playing Syberia 3 first since the others were unavailable to buy. Enjoying both the 3rd game & The World Before, getting to see how everything started is a gem.

There is some good here but a lot of bad. First, I really appreciate getting to see one of my favorite games modernized in a manner which deeply respects the source material. Unfortunately, the modernization can be as much a detriment to the original experience as it does bolster it. I feel like some of the original vision was lost in translation and sometimes the game suffers for it. On the other hand, the pre-rendered 90s cutscenes are begging to be updated because the difference between OG and modern Kate is extremely jarring, almost to the point where they feel like different characters. Highly recommend picking up OG Syberia first if you are new to the series, it runs on basically anything and you can easily upscale the resolution yourself. Basically freeware. Buy this on sale

Lip sync can be bad at times and many of the cutscenes are not remastered. The new Kate model will be controversial as well. The new graphics are gorgeous and the ui and puzzling gameplay are much improved and refined, so there's that. 7.5/10 for the remaster, but 10/10 for the actual game overall.

The gameplay is remastered, but the cutscenes are not. Looks and feels incredibly lazy on the developers part. Instead of enjoying the story, all l'm thinking about is how much worse the cutscenes are than the rest of the game.
