A surprisingly impressive reimaging of the original.

This is a port of the VR remake from a few years back. It is the basic premise as the original, but with a slightly modified story, completely new puzzles, and really nice, new 3D FMV scenes with new actors. They didn't add new gimmicks or gameplay elements to modernize it too much, it's just old school point and click goodness. They even left in the ouija board hint system, although solving puzzles now costs coins you find. Love the new graphics, atmosphere, and the clever, subtle reworking of the orignal George Sanger music score.

    Achievements Not Unlocking

Beautiful and frustratingly fun with suprises everywhere but, some achievement not unlocking. I'm upstairs in last guest room with only one unlocked. None of the completed rooms registered or even one upon entering mansion.

    Excellent Puzzle Game

Never played the original, but I thoroughly enjoyed this remake. Puzzles are the highlight here. They're very well-designed and challenging, but generally not too challenging. Only a couple felt truly frustrating, but if I walked away for a little while and came back, I could figure them out. (Finished my playthrough with no hints used.) The visuals are beautiful and atmospheric, and I found the use of volumetric video (for 3D performances by real actors) to be a really cool feature. The story itself and the acting performances were generally solid, though a little mixed at times. And while I don't think any Oscars are going to be handed out, I still had a good time watching and found myself entertained.

    So far, a brilliant reinvention

The new cinematics, quality of life and "play anywhere" bring this masterpiece to a new audience. 11th hour next?

    The right Stauf

Enjoyable remake of an old game. The atmosphere, music and story are faithful enough to the original. Movement through the house is via the analog sticks on a controller rather than point and click and is a much appreciated upgrade. All new puzzles update each room (although most appear to be on the easier side). The actors do a good job and are comparable to the old cast. There are some nice easter eggs for longtime fans to discover. Achievements were initially not activating but this seems to have been fixed. I hope we get a similar update for the sequel, The 11th Hour. Highly recommended for fans of puzzle games and old horror movies.
