A modern take on a game very few know about is a great concept. It screams "HEY, I WAS MADE IN THE 80's!" and makes that clear. As someone who wasn't around during that era, this is the closest I'll get to a definitive early game. The gameplay loop is great, addicting, and easy to learn!

Something truly from another dimension. Jeff Minter is a Visionary. Space Girraffe, Tempest 4000 and now Akka Arrh. Heres hoping we get Space Girraffe 2. Load up your Star Cannon and defend The Sentinel!

Great if you like Atari magic
Its not for everybody, as it gets difficult, but i think it succeeds where most arcade remakes fail. Its about on par with geometry wars, better than most of the atari recharged\50th stuff. Frenetic psychedelic sensory overload, the heart of 80s arcade stimulation with modern programming that DOESN'T look pretentious, and feels difficult but fair. Itdid crash on me during my best run so far, and the menu design is utterly confusing. This is how these games should be done, but you're probably not going to play it for hours at a time due to the intensity of it.
