Cris Tales is a gorgeous, indie love letter to classic JRPGs with a new perspective. Peer into the past, act in the present, and watch as your choices dynamically change the future -- all on one screen as you play! Beautifully hand-drawn 2D animations bring to life a world where your choices will change both the present and the future across more than 20 hours of gameplay.

A vision of passion, but made by indies. Expect that.
Played start to finish. I played on a Xbox one X and was lucky to see no tech problems. I even played it on gamepass. Time travel is only used in combat and puzzels. Dont expect time leaping 1000s of years into the past. Same with making changes to past. Combat to me was enjoyable in mid to late. Early can be a slog. Watch a tips & trick video. Thats what i did. Dont buy tents. Get potions instead. Get to St clarity fast as well. Art looks nice, but colors can be repetative till a new island. Music was great as well. Story & dialogue can be critiqued. Especially voice acting. You can feel some scenes were cut or rushed which is sad. Some scenes dont mesh well. Not story level catastrophe, but pacing needs a good look at. I enjoyed the characters. Especially JKR. World is intresting. Overall i enjoyed it. Its no AAA game backed by a massive publisher. With how xbox review is i tried my best to get my thoughts on it and hope its helpful.

Started Off Strong. Doesn't Finish Off Strong.
Art style and cinematics are a 5 out of 5. Music is a 4. Gameplay and time gimmick are a 3, along with the characters. Their personality, and voice direction can be at times annoyling naive and one dimensional in certain situations. The main plot and twists and turns throughout the story are beyond noticeable before revealed giving it a 2. Worse is how limited the time mechanic is implemented. Most bosses are immune to all debuffs, so attack and speed with situational healing is all you will be doing entirely. I personally hate Zas both as a quirky character who is a pure RNG archetype who excels at nothing. Also, when you kill the Empress, prepare to back track 3 times to fight the final boss. Legitimate 3 to 5 hours of fluff. Disgustedly pacing with a TRUE/GOOD ending that is beyond lackluster. 1 out of 5

Good but could be great
Game would be great if the bugs were fixed, the ending was better, and a hit indicator was added for combat. The story was good up till near the end. Timing attacks can be key and even though I was capable of doing, it I think adding an indicator would only help to improve the experience. Would say more but don't want to spoil anything. Overall a good game.

Flawed artpiece
Love the artstyle and the characters. The hints and combat system is atrocious. The 3rd volcano sister fight is a softlock where she heals faster than you can do damage. In fact, half the bosses are healing jerkwads and the one skill to counter 'regression' can be a hassle to get off. 2nd half is repetitive backtracking to pad runtime.

Beautiful indie masterpiece
The game has a beautiful art style, made by a team that showed clear passion to the product, unlike the AAA garbage with billion dollar budgets. To many people giving it 1-2 star reviews over day one bugs because an indie dev can't crank out day one patches to solve all the problems, This is why games are garbage anymore wonderful titles like these that while yes have their issues, are review bombed to death and it scares other devs/AAA devs from trying new things? What were you all expecting? All star cast? 100+ game filled with empty garbage? It doesn't need to be perfect poeple its a wonderful game as is and anybody that is 1-2 staring this ended up on fornite or call of duty by the end of that review. I would have LOVED TO SEE A SEQUAL or revised or improved with patchec etc but because yall hated on absolutely ridiculous things it will never see any of it because they have moved on because the game was forgotten. All these low ratings for issues that have long since been fixed.
