This is the mobile game repurposed for consoles but they ensured the game remains loyal to Ocotopath. The grind is heavy, like in the other games, so be prepared for that. There's a lot of cutscenes, more than the other games. Mainly because this content was released over time with the mobile game. There's a lot of fantastic boss fights and stories here but be prepared for a long journey. This is a classic RPG game as its core. That means a lot of grinding for levels, job points, abilities, money, and gear.

So far if you like previous games or just eastern rpgs in general its great. The story is interesting, the characters are fun. There is town building which is fun. Five hours in and i'm having a blast. Between this and the monster hunter stories its good to be a rpg fan. Cheers!

Its mobile game roots do not at all make this unworthy to the series. Music, story, combat, all as wonderful as the other games. Though slightly different the core heart and soul is there. Definitely prioritize playing 1 or 2 first but this is fantastic. Love it.

Obsessed with 1 & 2, and enjoying every minute of this one. Octopath is my favorite jrpg.
