Ion Fury: Double Shot Edition

TL;dr - Old school shooter that is handled in a smart way so it holds up by modern standards too. It doesn't just depend on retro nostalgia like some other games I've played. Game itself is well thought out and shows the good side of classic FPS design. Open levels without waypoints and rewards for reaching difficult to find areas. It has some light switch/platforming puzzles with very meaty combat. All weapons have 2 modes that both feel useful through the entire game. Example: Basic pistol can shoot fast for beefy targets or use a limited lock-on to snipe distant targets or clear small groups (which is great to have on the basic gun, since scoped weapons aren't a thing here.) Just like a classic FPS, you will rely on manual saves but there are some autosaves if you're forgetful.

Originally planned for 2023, I don't see that happening on PC, nevermind console. So they put out a DLC on PC today to tide people over, but it's obviously absent from this page, and we may not get a console port for a year. It's called AFTERSHOCK, looks amazing. Thank Phil that Trepang² is releasing at "midnight", I already pre-ordered that one. It's basically a modern FEAR 1 remake, on crack lol.

Been waiting for this since Civvie covered it 4 years ago

...But where's the Aftershock DLC?

As of 11/11/25 the white screen bug that was causing the game to be unplayable has been patched. Thank you Fulqrum publishing, Voidpoint and the console porting team for your hard work in getting the game back to a playable state.
