Get ready to pull your hair out trying to get the no continues achievement. Not as hard as the no hit run in MS3's last mission but definitely a worthy challenge!

A fun throw back!
This is a 16 bit shooter in all its glory. SNK makes gorgeous 2D games that are really fun but brutally difficult. The animarions are smooth and the controles are resopnsive. The sound is also outstanding. There are also several details that are beautifully animated that you may not notice at first but once you do you'll have a great respect for all the work that went into this game. Be prepared to die fast and often as only one hit will kill you, but there are infinate continues. Infinate continues does take some of the challenge away but it turns death into an annoyance. That is my only complaint about Metal Slug, it is an arcade game designed to eat quarters and it shows in this version. Player death is unavoidable in many sitituations. Continuing every few minutes is fine as no progress is lost, but it gets annoying.

Fun...but not as good as MS3
This game is good and all, but as the title says, it's nowhere near as good as MS3. Pros: 2 (3 if you include Leona) new characters to play as. And each character is actually unique and play different. Autofire. Now you don't have to worry about breaking your buttons because of mash. The ability to have fullscreen instead of awkward bordors. Cons: Despite having 2 more missions than MS3 it feels shorter. Because of this, it's not very memorable. Combat School is also a waste of time. Essentially a tutorial for an easy control wise game. No transformations. That's right, no transformations (unless you count Snowman, but I don't). No Mummy form, Zombie form, not even Fat form! But the biggest issue is the countless amount of cheap deaths. MS3 wasn't this cheap. While there is infinite continues that is no excuse to add cheap sometimes even outright unavoidable deaths. Overall 15 dollars isn't worth a 1 hr long game. You're better off waiting for a sale (if it ever comes) or playing MS3.
