Ocean Keeper
RetroStyle Games · Action & adventure · Simulation · Other
Explore dungeons, fight hordes of monsters and survive on a huge map. This is Ocean Keeper - an action roguelike with tower defense elements. Mine resources in caves, customize your Mech Spider, upgrade different weapons and face dangerous bosses that won't leave you a chance!
To me, i feel like its not entirely finished content wise. dont get me wrong, what is there is solid though i wish i can loot some of these things i find in the water like a random sunken submarine or a satellite i find on the ocean floor. the mining and upgrade system is basic and not complicated so it works well. The time limits between waves can be annoying since those are your windows to mine for resources but ill work with it. overall i say this game is ok for what it has now. makes me wonder what they plan to add later.

Description: It gets easier once upgrades are completed.
Weapons seem unbalanced. Rocket Gun is much more powerful than Machine Gun or Shot Gun at the start.
The game recommends upgrading relic slots from the beginning, though it is quite unlikely the player will last long enough to have more than 1 artifact without any other upgrades. Rocket Gun should be recommended instead. There isn't any minimap available in game, not as an upgrade either.

Its alright
While the premise is great, the game really doesn’t build on itself. Sure there’s upgrades to the fact to fit being a “rouge lite” but the gameplay doesn’t change. I had more than half the achievements in under a half hour. It feels like 3/5 on elements of game play and that other 2 just never materialized for them and they decided to call it a day.

16/16 4hr review: We have Dome Keeper at home
I couldn't wait to put this game down.
Bugs:
-Upgrade tree will often overlay the first selection over every other upgrade
-When trying to speed up dialogue, B will double register and skip entire lines
Annoying things:
-Diamonds (the green gems for some reason?) are far too uncommon despite 65% of upgrades requiring 1-5 of them
-The game WANTS you to die multiple times, as each time you do it offers new dialogue & story progression (via upgrades)
-Per the above, the majority of upgrades are locked behind the generators you stumble across in-game, but they only appear every other run
-Boosters from artifacts are useless "lasts until the start of the wave" yet each waves comes in <1m30sec
The mining is literally a reskinned dome keeper, and the overworld combat feels like a janky Rift Breakers.
I would recommend paying at most, 5 USD for this, and not a penny more.
3 stars because it isn't broken, they clearly tried to put effort in with the art & story, and it's 1k gs in 4hrs...
