If it's too hard, just choose Easy difficulty. You can restart on the same level if you run out of lives and some levels even have a mid level checkpoint. Quit the game and it will remember the level you was on when you come back. It's not a Contra ripoff, that would be implying it's a cheap cash grab. This is obviously a game by someone that loves Contra and unlike Contra now (not the fun it once was), this still is a lot of fun to play solo. You can custom 4 color aspects of your character, a nice little touch. Supershot is a different button to hold down than your fire button which is rapid fire. You can lock your character in place to fire in a direction if you wish. There's a few other little things to improve the Contra experience here. Filters are limited, only smooth (looks good) & old TV (looks terrible) or none (looks good). If you want a fun Contra game, just like Contra but plays well for today as single or co-op, this is a must play.

1) start on Easy. there's no shame in it with this game. 2) Spread Is your Friend. 3) Position is everything - take your time, stand in a safe place and kill the enemies above you or ahead, then continue. 4) AIM-LOCK is very useful, use it. Good luck.

For those of us tired of waiting for Contra 5, just buy this. I have missed games like this. A+ development team! The difficulty was absolutely perfect with spot on controls. If you die its because you messed up. This game is an underpriced gem! Please, please make Super Cyborg 2. Thanks dev team for adding playable humans. I love this game!!

This game is like a modern day contra. Lots of fun. 40 life code works at title screen!! Fantastic but needs online co op
