Tails Noir

Listen. This game's front 60% was one of the most engaged I've been in along time. The world you are put into is magical, the characters feel authentic, and the plot is captivating. The scenes you explore and puzzles are really satisfing as well. Then,the story shifts and everything comes to a sudden hault. The story dissapears, the tone shifts, and any build up or payoff revolving around the world and it's characters end. No explination, no satisfaction. The game ends so suddenly that the mere thought ofcoming back to it or reminiscing just irks me for what could have been. I guess there is a deeper meaning or more mature theme I just didn't buy into. I wish there was more to this universe I could explore. I wish I could connect with these characters even more. We never got that chance. I just feel like there was so much left to say and so much more to explore. Overall, this game really was incredible and I'm glad I played it...I just wanted more.

This game starts of with an excellent story pitch and immediately digs its hooks into you pushing you to ask questions about what, when, where, who and why and the story beats keep you moving forward looking for more answers until about 60% of the way through. There is a substantial shift in tone and story and your objective as the main character becomes extremely hazy and unclear. A jarring experience for sure, it destroys any immersion you may have been experiencing and throws away almost everything the story had built until that moment. Not for everyone, just those who live for single player experiences.

what went wrong y'all? Did you guys have a change in management? Or developer? It's hard to believe that the entire game was made by the same people without something going wrong. It had such a good story for y'all to end it like that. I'm genuinely curious about what happened internally

There was honestly a lot that I liked here. It was a great story. I like the character design. The dialogue was well done. And the puzzles were challenging. I really feel like where it fell flat was the ending. All of a sudden they rapidly change direction and tone and it kind of leaves you feeling robbed. It would have been a much better game if they had made a more cohesive experience instead of trying to M. Night Shyamalan it.

Im a sucker for noir aesthetics so I loved Howard, his character, and dialogue. Art style was neat with pretty simple controls and good story until maybe the middle. After a while it felt tougher to keep up with the story, the ending was pretty abrupt but leaves me wanting a sequel even more. Still would recommend but free with game pass.
