The Good Life

So, title, don't get this full price. Everyone in comments discussed mechanics without enough details, basically slow and clunky, you need to maintain mc and its a pain( food, water, and health. You can get a toothache and malnutrition and you might as well restart, because I'm American and I've had cheaper hopital bills irl.). Spoilers btw........ Alright, you can turn into animals and no I'm not explaining that. The only good parts of this gam are the 2d characters who almost seem defined at moments and the next are cardboard cutouts, and the story (the pictures are nice.. If they want to be, it can glitch and random pics of grass be worth more then a perfect shot of the exact trends needed). Alright so tldr is its not unplayable, but given xbox crowd has achievements for tutorials at 50% or less completion on popular games or widely played games... Yeahfreerareachievement

So many wtf moments. Its an ambitious game that clearly wasnt finished. Glorious trash.

A decent yet poorly written game that routinely breaks the 4th wall to make the same "this is like a fetch quest in a video game" comment to try and cover up that it is indeed a fetch quest in a video game. That might be ok if they had any subtlety whatsoever, but nope. Early on you get a sheep to ride, which could be a fun concept, except the sheep controls are like a tank, and anytime you tap the run button she screams "YEAH BABY!" Every time. "YEAH BABY!" The only time that wasn't annoying was when I was showing this game to a friend and clicking run on purpose so she would respond to my rant. "YEAH BABY!" With everything being so low poly, and so many textures being re-used, there is no reason that it should require 16GB of ram and a GTX1070 for high settings. Even as a Unity game, you have to be deathly allergic to optimization to run that poorly. "YEAH BABY!"

The good: * Fun, memorable cast of characters * Can be fun to get the right shots for maximum points * A lot of quests to waste time on * Large map to explore * Lots of items and recipes to collect * A decent amount of customization for your character and the house * You can turn into a cat or a dog! The bad: * The PC controls reek of "designed with controller in mind" * Oh the amount of legwork you have to do even with fast traveling. It gets old, fast. * Can only equip one quest at a time, and if it's not equipped, you can't progress the quest. I've done quest objectives just to realize I have to run back across the map to redo it because it didn't count * It can be boring to gather all the items you need to craft what you need for QoL or quests * Combat is clunky, and you're likely to get hit thanks to stiff animations * So many useless, time wasting menus and animations for things like changing quests, changing form, planting crops, etc. * The health meter depletes too fast

Super odd tale, hints of Deadly Premonition. Initial game creates haters, I get that. Except for the drinking challenges, I love this games. Free roam a lot, northwest for rare stuff. Dont bother with pics too much, bank is in the fast travel shrines. Repeat pics of bear up north, and statues are good. Once you have the sheep, you're set.
