Old arcade fun meant to your eat quarters
Feels, looks & sounds like something I would've played on the Saturn. I am horrible at this type of game yet I am having fun with this one. Even if you are skilled at this type of game, expect a challenge as it's easy to see this was originally meant to eat a lot of quarters.
There's a lot of settings in the pause menu, some of which will make the game a little easier. If you have a good sound system, turn it on, makes a huge difference in fun factor.
Bosses are much more satisfying than expected because they have a few different components you can give damage to & take out. On some bosses when you take out a certain part they will change their form instead of just having a weapon taken out.
Some of the fire coming at you will have patterns & a lot will just be crazy chaos with most all of it fast, blink and you explode but you can bump into enemies including bosses without damage. Ship feels slow moving around but soon after going in you will find it's often a benefit.

Similar to Crimzon Clover
I've been bummed that Crimzon Clover isn't available on xbox for a while and this is pretty similar in style. I've played most of the indie/modern shmups available on xbox and they just aren't ever as fun. This is great fun if you like the older style of shmups
I'm always late to the party for rating games, but it takes me longer to discover them, cuz I have a very busy life. I don't have to say much abou the 2 arcade ports in this bundle, if u are a shmup fan, u will enjoy them period. That being said, I absolutely love timeless mode, I see a lot of people saying that because of this modes extra-wide play field, the stages feel boring and barren of enemies. I do agree that this mode is slightly less difficult than it's arcade ancestors, but you will find that this mode is anything but barren if you pay attention to how timeless mode is designed to play. The 1st stage of every timeless run starts at a brisk, relatively easy pace to let u get a feel for your chosen character, and get u psyched up, but as soon as stage 2 comes, the action ramps all the way up, and before u know it, your getting completely surrounded by enemies and bullets from literally every angle of the play field. Not to mention 4 player co-op is a blast to play. GREAT GAME
