Anodyne

I've been trying to tell people why I love this game so much for a while now and it's not easy. I'll give it my best shot. Of all the "modern retro" games I've ever played, this feels the closest to sitting in my parents living room playing NES in1987. As for the story, music, aesthetic, etc, it's like they went into my mind and read every thought that's jumbled up there. This game nearly perfectly captures the feeling of getting older in an increasingly confusing world. Someone made a faux retro game of every dream I've ever had that stuck with me, but I couldn't explain.

I kept wanting to keep playing it the further and further I went. It uses Zelda as a template but presents itself in a quirky, strange and mysterious manner, I guess due to the psychological underpinnings of the story. This difference between the classic Zelda makes the game fresh and modern and keeps you wanting to see where the craziness will lead. Go in with moderate expectations and you'll be surprised how good it is. The small team that made it should be proud. I beat the game twice...

I had a good time. If your in the vibes than its great to play and chill. It might uplift your spirit like it did mine

If you get the reference, this game is for you! I'm 2.5 hours/dungeons in and so far the game is nicely done and any fan of SNES Action RPGs will feel right at home. The graphics are reminiscent of the 16-bit era and the music is fantastic and really sets the tone. I hope the developers stick with it, I look forward to seeing more from them in the future. Action RPGs are my favorite genre and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is my favorite game of all-time! For $10, Anodyne is a steal and highly recommended!

Plays like Links Awakening. Disturbing and Funny. Great puzzles and platforming. Music is awesome.
