As part of an investigation team, you're sent in to find out what happened to the Antartica research team who hasn't communicated in several weeks. You'll soon find yourself exploring areas while fighting off creatures. Ammo and medkits are scarce so don't dilly dally too long as creatures will keep coming in some but not all areas. There is a variety of weapons to use once found and a melee weapon so you always have something. Each location has an area map to collect so getting lost is very hard to do. As far as being The Thing, the setting of being in Antarctica with creatures are the only similarities so don't go in thinking this will be like the movie. The controls will take some getting use to as they're not the traditional fps layout most are use to and you can't remap them. Achievements are easy and quick as the game isn't long and a late game save helps with the three unique endings. Antarctica 88 is definitely rough around the edges but don't expect $60 quality from a $6 game.

Fun ,short game for only a few $.
Got this for under $4 on sale and I enjoyed it . Very short Russian twist on The Thing movies plot , game has multiple difficulty settings, day/night cycle dependant on time of day you play it, vehicular segments,shooting, some puzzles, and multiple. Endings. I played through once already , and will play again to see other endings and try other difficulties. Game ran fine with no bug . Overall, I would say this is a good game ,especially being only the 2nd game from a small indie developer.
